Axis Precision Worx B52 – Long-range shooting chassis designed for the ELR
The B52 is Axis Precision Worx's long range chassis weighing approximately 4.3 kg, designed for TLD/ELR shooters who want a serious, rigid, and fully modern base.
Designed and manufactured locally by APW (South Africa), it is intended to compete with leading chassis on the international market, providing a complete solution for both competition and intensive training. The B52's key strength lies in its design for rifles dedicated to ELR (Electronic Rifle Launching), notably with a handguard designed for high-profile barrels.
Positioning of the B52
The B52 was developed to cover a wide range of users:
- already experienced competitor who wants a robust, adjustable and durable platform for thousands of shots per year;
- long-range shooter seeking a stable chassis for "ELR" calibers and extended sessions, with mirage management and shooting comfort.
The objective is clear: to provide a chassis capable of accompanying the shooter's progression, from the first regional match to more ambitious competitions, without being a limitation in terms of ergonomics or stability.
Construction & geometry
The B52 is precision-machined from a high-strength aluminum alloy, in line with other APW products. CNC machining ensures:
- a consistent geometry from one copy to another;
- clear and reproducible support for action;
- high overall rigidity to limit unwanted flexing during firing.
The housing area of the action is designed to offer a stable and repeatable interface, suitable for intensive use in matches (shooting from barricades, tripods, bags, improvised supports). The philosophy is that of a match chassis: absorb mechanical stresses, stabilize the weapon/optics assembly, and allow the shooter to concentrate on reading the wind and executing their shot.
Compatibility & Standards
The B52 is designed around standards widely used in the modern precision ecosystem:
- MDT type grips : compatible with AR-15 style grips, allowing you to choose a grip ergonomics already proven by many shooters (straight, more vertical, more enveloping, etc.).
- AICS magazines : The chassis accepts AICS-type magazines, which have become the standard for bolt-action precision rifles. This simplifies magazine management when using multiple weapons or platforms.
Ergonomics & settings
The B52 was designed for the practical application of precision shooting, where ergonomic adjustments are not a "plus," but a necessity. These include:
- a folding rear stock, to choose between maximum rigidity or easier transport (more compact rifle for case, trunk or travel to matches)
- a modular stock allowing adjustment of the head position, stock length and placement in the butt plate, in order to maintain a reproducible position, even with large objective lenses and high mounts;
- a rear interface designed to work with back bags, "game changer" type back bags or classic supports in prone shooting.
This adjustable ergonomics allows the rifle to be adapted to the shooter's morphology and preferences, which reduces fatigue, improves stability and facilitates the repetition of a clean firing cycle over a series of shots.
Mirage control & included accessories
One of the B52's key features is its attention to real-world long-range shooting conditions. The chassis comes standard with:
- 1 mirage shields , to break the mirage that rises from the barrel or the barrel/moderator/muzzle brake assembly, particularly in rapid fire or under high heat;
In practice, this allows for the rapid assembly of an operational unit: action, cannon, optics, muzzle brake or moderator, and the B52 chassis already provides the elements intended to limit the thermal impact (mirage) on the image in the optics.
